House
What is House?
Students in 7th-12th grade at CCS are placed in one of four Houses, which is a continuation of the practice of English boarding schools. While our students don’t live at the school (though some may feel like they do), the House system exists to foster relationships and community across Upper School grades. Our Houses present opportunities for students to serve the school and one another, develop leadership skills, build relationships with older and younger students, study Scripture and pray together, and learn to compete with grace and humility.
House Mission - The House system strengthens community and helps each student develop wisdom and virtue by creating opportunities for mentorship, leadership, service, fellowship, and competition.
House Vision - To cultivate Christ-centered communities within the larger community of CCS where each student is challenged and encouraged to grow in faith and maturity, and goes on to follow Jesus Christ with wisdom, passion, and courage.
House Names - Historically, House names have been derived from saints, famous figures, mascots, or even famous locations. CCS Houses are named after biblical figures: Abraham, Moses, David, and Paul - heroes of the faith who continually remind us of Christ’s lordship.
House Meetings - Each House will meet weekly to discuss that week’s chapel message, as well as to support one another in prayer and fellowship. Houses will also compete in four Mini-Challenges and four MEGA-Challenges each year, as well as a number of minor events (micro-challenges). At the end of the year, one House will be recognized as House Champion based on points accumulated throughout the year.
House Leadership - The House system is dependent upon student servant-leaders, with each House having a President, a Vice President, and a Secretary. Beyond that there are numerous opportunities for students to volunteer, serve, and lead.
